RSR - Chaplaincy Support Workers: Portsmouth Area
Andrew Morgan - CSW
Portsmouth Naval Base
Andrew Morgan is a member of the Chaplaincy team at HMS NELSON in Portsmouth as the new Chaplaincy Support Worker. Andrew retired from the Navy after a varied career of nearly 30 years' service on HM Ships and shore establishments. His experience, from his time as an 18-year-old at HMS GANGES to his commissioned work in the MOD, makes him an ideal CSW. Andrew tells us about his Christian journey.
"I have had close links with RSR and the Chaplaincy for most of my Naval career and it was thanks to friends and leaders in both organisations that I had the joy of finding faith in 1976. A friend introduced me to RSR Rowner and I discovered the meaning of the Christian faith and the gift of salvation through our Lord Jesus. Since then, I have enjoyed many years of active fellowship life, with prayer, devotions and Bible study being vital to me in my service life.
I have always tried to live the Christian life at home and at work and been aware that praying for people, friends, colleagues and bosses, makes a real difference. I long to help, support and encourage those who are seeking the faith and those wanting to grow in the Lord."
Andrew is married to Rita, who he met at RSR Rowner in 1981 and has a happy family of four boys James, Philip, Robert and Timothy. We pray that Andrew will be a real source of help and support to the Chaplaincy team at HMS NELSON.
