Chaplaincy Support Workers: Portsmouth Area

Connie Sherman
...supporting Naval Families in Portsmouth

Evangelism through friendship has brought many people to a Christian faith. Connie Sherman has recently started work as a part time Chaplaincy Support Worker on the Rowner Estate as part of the HMS NELSON Chaplaincy team.

Connie was born in East Germany in 1970 and grew up in an atheist society. To be a Christian at that time threatened your livelihood but, through her father's influence and the friendship and support of local Lutheran Christians, Connie, at the age of 16, discovered her Faith. Today, Jesus Christ is at the centre of her life.

Connie met her husband Mathew when he visited mutual friends in Berlin - they kept in touch, their love grew and they married. Today they have two lovely children - a 6-year-old daughter Rachel and a son Lucas who is 3 years old.

Connie was a voluntary classroom assistant at her daughter's school and at a local senior school before being called to give some of her time to supporting the work of RSR. She will be working alongside Judith Swaine on the Rowner Estate. Andy Stevens has introduced her to the work and everyone has made her feel very welcome. Having had such a good start has made the transition from being a housemother to working mother very easy.

We welcome Connie and ask for your prayers that her ministry will be blessed.
