Hazel Waters - CSW HMS RALEIGH
Hazel Waters's Christian journey began about 10 years ago, at a time when other big changes were also happening in her life. She takes up her story and Christian journey.
My past work history of, mostly office based work ended and afforded me a dramatic career change with an opportunity to return to college as a mature student. I undertook a part time course in adventurous outdoor activities, at the Duchy College in Cornwall. This ultimately led to my becoming a qualified outdoor education instructor, working seasonally for Cornwall Outdoors, Cornwall County Council.
Throughout this time, my journey with God has steadily grown, giving me a thirst to know Him better and I have a need to share His word with others, primarily through my actions and behaviour, and a love of His creation.
Currently, with the support of our parent church Grace Community Church, Morval, I am actively involved in the setting up of an evangelical church plant within my local town of Torpoint. This has been a very challenging opportunity and not without times of struggle. Nevertheless, God has been with us and now, nearly four years later we are about to step out in faith and increase our commitment to a weekly service. All very exciting!
When I saw the advert for the CSW Activities Worker vacancy at HMS RALEIGH I felt it was for me. So, with the encouragement of my two beautiful teenage daughters and a host of family and friends, all with the same opinion that this job had my name on it! I applied for the post. Gods timing, as always, is perfect.
I'm delighted to have been successful with my application and this is a wonderful opportunity for me to be an active Christian physically, and more importantly, active for God in my daily life and look I look forward with anticipation to the challenge at HMS RALEIGH.
