RSR - Chaplaincy Support Workers in the South West
Dave Garbett - Chaplaincy Support Worker at Yeovilton;
For the last four years I have worked full time at the Elim Pentecostal church in Weston super mare as part of the Youth team, where I also met my wife, Peta also a youth worker.
I hold ‘Licence to Minister’ within the Elim movement and am undertaking a degree in Applied Theology. Whilst their I was involved in all aspects of large and small scale youth ministry, including the pioneering and management of a mobile skate park and skate ministry. I have also been involved in the wider ministries at Weston such as heading up a discipleship group for those battling addiction.
I’m a keen surfer, and a member of Christian Surfers, and generally love adventure activities out in God’s creation.
I enjoy the challenge of the work as a CSW at RNAS Yeovilton and facilitating the use of their recently refurbished chaplaincy and the 'Sanctuary' which is a place where people can go and chill out, have a coffee, watch the TV and enjoy a relaxing time - much like a home from home. I pray that my work here will help proclaim the good news and redemptive nature of Jesus Christ to the men and women of the Royal Navy.
