RSR - Areas of Help & Support

RSR (Royal Sailors' Rests), often known as Aggies, is a Christian charity that provides 'people, places and projects' in support of the Royal Naval Service. The work has continued for the last 130 years. In 1999 the style and delivery of RSR's work changed to address the needs of the modern naval service. RSR is not a grant making charity but gives help and support in the following ways:

People: RSR works closely with the NPFS (Naval Personal Family Service) and the Royal Naval Chaplaincy with on base CSWs (Chaplaincy Support Workers) at Royal Naval and Royal Marines establishments. Their role is to support the Chaplaincy team and to provide pastoral care and spiritual support where ever needed.

Places: RSR also provides Christian, alcohol free family leisure centres for serving personnel and their families situated close to the Royal Naval Port areas at at Rowner (Gosport) and Braeholm (Helensburgh). They are not retirement homes but vibrant family centres with many support activities. The Braeholm centre also has high class accommodation available.

Projects: NVQ Courses; Freephone self help debt support through the RSR / Credit Action partnership & Cybercafe Support workers providing access to internet services at naval service establshments.

The RSR news magazine, "Ashore & Afloat" is published three times a year and is available from the main office at RSR, Castaway House, 311 Twyford Avenue, Portsmouth, Hampshire, PO2 8PE or by emailing: info@rsr.org .uk
