Personal debt is increasingly an issue in society. Naval families and personnel are as likely to face this problem as anyone else. Therefore RSR has recognised this and joined forces with Credit Action to provide a specialist debt counselling service exclusively for the Naval community.

The service is based on a comprehensive self help Credit Action booklet and supported by a Helpline run by the specialist debt advice charity ‘Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS)’. The booklet offers a practical manual with step by step advice on such issues as how to prioritise debts, how to prepare a financial statement and how to negotiate with creditors. There are also a large number of ready made letters for copying when writing to creditors and most importantly a long list of contacts where help can be obtained.

The booklet also includes information on RN Policy on Debt Counselling and the current NPFS & RM Welfare Contact Addresses.
